2006 Louisiana Laws - RS 22:250.51 — Legislative intent

PART VI-F.  STANDARDS FOR  PHARMACY

AND PHARMACIST CLAIMS

§250.51.  Legislative intent

The legislature finds that making prompt and correct payment for prescription drugs, other products and supplies, and pharmacist services covered under insurance or other contracts that provide for pharmacy benefits is important to the health and welfare of its citizens.  It is the intent of the legislature that payments for covered prescription drugs, other products and supplies, and pharmacist services provided by pharmacists and pharmacies be paid timely and based on payment calculations that reflect nationally recognized pricing references such as average wholesale price (AWP) and maximum allowable cost (MAC).  It is the intent of the legislature that the provisions of this Part shall be interpreted to achieve these ends.
