§223.  Sound reproductions without consent prohibited

Any person who, for commercial gain, knowingly transfers or causes to be transferred, sells, distributes, circulates or causes to be sold, distributed or circulated, directly or indirectly, or possesses for such purposes, any sounds recorded on any article for a consideration without the consent of the owner within the state of Louisiana shall be guilty of a criminal offense and punished as provided in R.S. 14:223.3.  This Section applies only to sound recordings initially fixed prior to February 15, 1972, and does not apply to motion pictures or other audiovisual works.
