2006 Kentucky Revised Statutes - .410   Disposal of lead acid batteries.

224.50-410 Disposal of lead acid batteries. (1) No person shall knowingly: (a)  Dispose of lead acid batteries by placing them in mixed solid waste; (b)  Accept lead acid batteries for disposal in a landfill or an incinerator; or (c)  Discard or abandon a lead acid battery in any manner except as allowed by subsection (2) of this section. (2) Proper disposal of lead acid batteries shall mean delivery to: (a)  A retail seller of new lead acid batteries; (b)  A person who sells lead acid batteries at wholesale; (c)  A permitted secondary lead smelter; (d)  A facility which will recycle the batteries by extracting the lead and chemical components for reuse; or (e)  A collection center which delivers to a smelter or a recycling facility.
