CHAPTER 313A - INTERSTATE BRIDGES
313A.2 - BRIDGE TO BE CONTROLLED BY DEPARTMENT.

        313A.2  BRIDGE TO BE CONTROLLED BY DEPARTMENT.
         The department shall have full charge of the construction and
      acquisition of all toll bridges constructed or acquired under the
      provisions of this chapter, the operation and maintenance thereof and
      the imposition and collection of tolls and charges for the use
      thereof.  The department shall have full charge of the design of all
      toll bridges constructed under the provisions of this chapter.  The
      department shall proceed with the construction of such toll bridges
      and other facilities and the approaches thereto by contract
      immediately upon there being made available funds for such work and
      shall prosecute such work to completion as rapidly as practicable.
      The department shall advertise for bids for the construction,
      reconstruction, improvement, repair or remodeling of any toll bridge
      by publication of a notice once each week for at least two
      consecutive weeks in a newspaper published and having a general
      circulation throughout the state of Iowa, the first publication to
      appear at least fifteen days prior to the date set for receiving
      bids.  The department shall have the power to accept such offer or
      offers, propositions or bids, and enter into such contract or
      contracts as it shall deem to be to the best interest of the state.
