CHAPTER 144 - VITAL STATISTICS
144.5 - DUTIES OF REGISTRAR.

        144.5  DUTIES OF REGISTRAR.
         The state registrar shall:
         1.  Administer and enforce this chapter and the rules issued
      hereunder, and issue instructions for the efficient administration of
      the statewide system of vital statistics and the division for records
      and statistics.
         2.  Direct and supervise the statewide system of vital statistics
      and the division for records and statistics and be custodian of its
      records.
         3.  Direct, supervise, and control the activities of clerks of the
      district court and county recorders related to the operation of the
      vital statistics system and provide registrars with necessary
      postage.
         4.  Prescribe, print, and distribute the forms required by this
      chapter and prescribe any other means for transmission of data, as
      necessary to accomplish complete, accurate reporting.
         5.  Prepare and publish annual reports of vital statistics of this
      state and other reports as may be required.
         6.  Delegate functions and duties vested in the state registrar to
      officers, to employees of the department, to the clerks of the
      district court, and to the county registrars as the state registrar
      deems necessary or expedient.
         7.  Provide, by rules, for appropriate morbidity reporting.
