CHAPTER 50 - CANVASS OF VOTES
50.13 - DESTRUCTION OF BALLOTS.
50.13 DESTRUCTION OF BALLOTS. If, at the expiration of the length of time specified in section 50.12, a contest is not pending, the commissioner, without opening the package in which they have been enclosed, shall destroy the ballots. If the ballots are to be shredded, the package may be opened, if necessary, but the ballots shall not be examined before shredding. Shredded ballots may be recycled. The commissioner shall invite the chairperson of each of the political parties to designate a person to witness the destruction of the ballots.Section History: Early Form
