Adoptions subject to Interstate Compact on the Placement of
Children
31-19-1-1 Sec. 1. Except as provided in IC 31-28-4, the adoption
of a child who is born in one (1) state by a person in another state is
subject to the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children under
IC 31-28-4.

Exclusive jurisdiction of probate court
31-19-1-2 Sec. 2. (a) This section applies to each Indiana county
that has a separate probate court.
(b) The probate court has exclusive jurisdiction in all adoption
matters.
