48-17-12. (a) The commissioner shall provide for the proper administration of this chapter. The commissioner may initiate investigations, hearings, and take other necessary measures to ensure compliance with the provisions of this chapter or to determine whether violations exist. If the commissioner finds evidence of any criminal violations, the commissioner shall notify the appropriate prosecuting attorney in the county in which such violation occurred. (b) The commissioner is authorized to provide for the enforcement of this chapter and the collection of the revenues under this chapter by rule and regulation. (c) The commissioner may delegate to an authorized representative any authority given to the commissioner by this chapter, including the conduct of investigations and the holding of hearings.
