20-2-219. (a) It is affirmed that a local unit of administration may, in its discretion, provide payroll deduction services to any organization, association, or corporation which the local unit of administration determines provides a tangible benefit to the school system or to any of its employees if such organization, association, or corporation has among its objectives educational, charitable, classroom instructional, legislative, legal, or professional development activities related to promoting and enhancing the welfare of the education profession and public school students and employees. (b) Subject to the provisions of this Code section, it is affirmed that any local unit of administration is authorized to deduct from the salaries or wages of its employees amounts designated by the employee as contributions, dues, or other specifically identified moneys to any such organization, association, or corporation as provided for in subsection (a) of this Code section. (c) No deduction shall be made under this Code section without the express written consent of the employee.
