Sec. 46b-212m. Applicable law. Initiating a proceeding.

      Sec. 46b-212m. Applicable law. Initiating a proceeding. (a) Except as otherwise provided in sections 46b-212 to 46b-213w, inclusive, sections 46b-212m to 46b-213d, inclusive, apply to all proceedings under sections 46b-212 to 46b-213w, inclusive.

      (b) An individual petitioner or a support enforcement agency may initiate a proceeding authorized under sections 46b-212 to 46b-213w, inclusive, by filing a petition in an initiating tribunal for forwarding to a responding tribunal or by filing a petition or a comparable pleading directly in a tribunal of another state which has or can obtain personal jurisdiction over the respondent.

(b) re subject matters associated with various statutory provisions, redesignated existing Subsec. (c) as Subsec. (b) and amended same by replacing reference to Sec. 46b-213v with reference to Sec. 46b-213w and replacing "commence" with "initiate", effective January 1, 2008.
