Sec. 20-340a. Telephone electrical workers.

      Sec. 20-340a. Telephone electrical workers. (a) On and after such date as the Department of Public Utility Control no longer regulates a telephone company, as defined in section 16-1, a corporate affiliate of such telephone company, or a service provided by such company or corporate affiliate, the Department of Consumer Protection shall furnish an appropriate license, as provided in section 20-334a, to any person who is an employee of such telephone company or such corporate affiliate on such date who, as a result of such deregulation becomes subject to the provisions of this chapter and who applies for any such license in accordance with the provisions of this chapter not later than one year after such date, provided any such employee shall not be required to pass any examination in order to qualify for any such license.

      (b) The Department of Consumer Protection shall also furnish an appropriate license, as provided in said section 20-334a, to any person who (1) is an employee of any corporation which on January 1, 1984, was a corporate affiliate of a telephone company, as so defined, and which, on or before October 1, 1986, terminates such corporate affiliation, (2) has been exempt from the provisions of this chapter pursuant to the provisions of subdivision (2) of section 20-340 as a result of being employed by such a corporation at the time of such affiliation, (3) becomes subject to the provisions of this chapter as a result of the termination of such affiliation and (4) applies for any such license in accordance with the provisions of this chapter not later than July 18, 1988, provided any such employee shall not be required to pass any examination in order to qualify for any such license.

      History: P.A. 88-178 amended Subsec. (b) to change the application closure date from October 1, 1987, to July 18, 1988; June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6 and P.A. 04-169 replaced Department of Consumer Protection with Department of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective July 1, 2004; P.A. 04-189 repealed Sec. 146 of June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6, thereby reversing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective June 1, 2004.
