      Sec. 14-295a. Assessment for certain bond forfeitures and certain payments of fines by mail. An assessment of five dollars shall be imposed against any person who is convicted of a violation of section 14-219, 14-222 or 14-227a who forfeits a cash bond or guaranteed bail bond certificate posted under section 14-140a or under reciprocal agreements made with other states for the alleged violation of any of said sections or who pleads nolo contendere to a violation of section 14-219 and pays the fine by mail. Such assessment shall be in addition to any fee, cost or surcharge imposed pursuant to any other provision of the general statutes. All assessments collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited in the General Fund and credited to the brain injury prevention and services account established under section 14-295b.
