2009 California Education Code - Section 53075 :: Article 3. Public Involvement Reading Campaign

SECTION 53075

53075.  Subject to funding being appropriated in the annual Budget
Act for this purpose, the Secretary for Education shall contract for
the development and establishment of a public involvement campaign to
inform Californians that promoting reading in the public schools as
a key to success in life is the responsibility of all Californians.
The campaign shall address, but not necessarily be limited to,
promoting family reading activities, encouraging private sector
support for child literacy programs, and publicizing the importance
of reading skills for academic success.
   Elected officials and declared candidates for partisan public
office may not appear in promotional materials for the reading
campaign.
