STATE OF MICHIGAN COURT OF APPEALS NICHOLAS EVARIAN, UNPUBLISHED February 17, 2004 Petitioner-Appellee, v No. 244487 Wayne Circuit Court LC No. 02-222087-PH BETTY J. MICHALSKI, Respondent-Appellant. Before: Schuette, P.J., and Meter and Owens, JJ. MEMORANDUM. Respondent appeals as of right the order denying her motion to modify or terminate a personal protection order (PPO). We dismiss the appeal as moot. This appeal is being decided without oral argument pursuant to MCR 7.214(E). An issue is moot if an event has occurred rendering it impossible for this Court, if it should decide in favor of the party, to grant relief. Jackson v Thompson-McCully Co, 239 Mich App 482, 493; 608 NW2d 531 (2000). Because the PPO at issue has expired, this Court cannot grant relief even if it should decide in respondent’s favor. Dismissed. /s/ Bill Schuette /s/ Patrick M. Meter /s/ Donald S. Owens -1-
