1650. This article does not apply to notaries public. 1651. The premium or charge for bonds given by surety companies for the officers, herein named, and for their deputies, clerks, assistants or subordinate officers shall be paid as follows: (a) State officers, by the State. (b) County officers, by the county. (c) Officers of a judicial district, by the county in which the district is situated. (d) School districts or other special district officers, by the school district or other special district, respectively. (e) City officers, by the city. 1652. No premium or charge paid by the state, a county, city, or district shall exceed one-half of 1 percent per annum on the amount of the bond, but a minimum premium or charge of twenty-five dollars ($25) per annum may be imposed. 1653. The payment of premiums for all bonds of deputies, clerks, assistants or subordinate officers of county officers shall not be a county charge unless the amount fixed for such bond has been approved by the board of supervisors.
